Final Assignment

        This assignment was super difficult. Lot's of hard work got put into this. To complete this assignment I first realized it wasn't going to be easy so I planned out what I was going to do & in what order I was going to do it as well. As I was completing the assignment I realized that I had a really had time trying to make the recording at least five minutes. The recording had to be a minimum of five minutes & the recording kept lasting only 3 minutes  So I decided to put more songs & sound effects onto the song.That's how I finally got my recording be excalty 5 minutes & 18 seconds. The only other thing that was diffcult was putting them together & make the recording sound good because sometimes it sounds sloppy. That is how I completed this assignment.

Mixx Assignment 10: Mic

During this assignment I used the mic from mixx for the first time. I had to use a song without any lyrics, I couldn't find one so then I decided to make my own. I went on freesound.com & downloaded a bunch of sounds. With those sounds I made kind of a instrumental. I pressed the word mic on top of the volume control slider. I pressed on talk & had to hold the button until I was done recording. That's how I finished my assignment.

                 In this assignment I had to download different sounds effects & add the sounds to a song. I downloaded four different sounds & combined all of them with a song a selected from mixx. I played all of the songs together which is what made my mix sound like it does now. That's how I completed this assignment. 

Mixx Assignment 8: Scratching

In this assignment I used the spinning vinyl. On the right side of the waveform overview there is a rectangle of 6 small boxes. The first box which happens to have a small spinning vinyl picture on it is the box you have to click on to get the big spinning vinyl. This is where I got the assignment done. While the song was playing, I was scratching the spinning vinyl to create a scratching DJ affect in the song. This is how I completed this assignment.

Mixxx Assignment 7: Pitch Control Slider

During this assignment we used the slider bar. I have learned during this assignment when the slide the slider bar all the way to the bottom of the bar the song slows down & the artist's voice sounds deeper than it is. When you slide the slider bar all the way up the song speeds up & the voice of the artist now sounds squeaky. Now when you put the slider bar to the middle the music song normal. In this assignment I played with the slider bar to make the song sound like the song was slowing down & then speed the song up again. That is what I learned in this assignment.

                In this assignment I played around with the big FX button. I also used the depth, delay & LFO button too. I noticed that when I turned on the FX buttons they make the music sound fuzzy & a bit unclear. When I played with the depth, delay & LFO button & made them lower or higher I didn't really see a difference in the sound of the song. To me the song sounded the same when experimenting with these button. Only FX made the song sound different. That's what I learned in this assignment.

Describe  the decision you made while making this recording: While I was recording this I clicking the high, low & mid button. I was turning then off & on to see the difference they made it the song.

                Today's assignment required me to use the high, low & mid button which I don't I have used in this class before. I have noticed that if you leave all of the buttons on at the same time the music stop playing. When you press the high button when the music is playing you'll notice that the music doesn't sound as clear as it used to. It almost sounds blocked by something. The mid button kind of does the same thing as the high button but, the mid button does it in like a mild way.

What did I do: I played around with the balance and volume. It made the song sound different with all the changes.
What you learned:  I learned that balance is similar to volume because when you lower it all the way you hear no sound.

     Today I did a project with Mixx experimenting with the volume & balance buttons. While doing this assignment I found out that balance & volume are more similar than I thought. When you lower balance all the way down it is like volume because it has no sound to it. By lower the volume & balance it obviously made the song sound different. This assignment was interesting.

Mixx Assignment 3

The first thing I did was combine two songs together. I pressed the sync button on both sides of the mixers then I recorded it. A DJ might use this to combine to songs to make an even better song. They can make their own song by combing two songs already made.

       Today I learned how to make loops in a song. Loops are when you make a part of a song repeat, which is usually used in electronic or dance music. I made my song loop by picking a part of the song I would like to loop. I then press one of the numbers 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16. When you press on of the numbers they will go on until the loop finishes and when it finishes it will go back to create a repeat affect. That is how I did my assignment.

            Mixx is the perfect thing to use if you are an inspiring DJ. I learned how to use it after a while. At first it was very confusing but, after a while I got the hang of it. I learned that on Mixx you can combined 2 songs and create your own. You can also slow down and even fast down the paste of the song too. You can make your own beats on Mixx also. Mixx was difficult at first but, now I find it easy to use and useful.

          I recently downloaded Mixx DJ Software. I downloaded it for free. At first it is'nt easy to use. It is very confusing at first because there are so many buttons and stuff. It very different from what I am used to like iTunes and such. I am hoping to make some of my own beats while using this and maybe even some songs.

- Banshee runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Fedora and etc.

- Banshee actually downloads a lot quicker than iTunes.

- You go to media on the Banshee media player at the top left corner, you click on import media, then click on the iTunes media folder, then click choose folders and your done.

             I learned while doing this assignment how to download music on legal music downloading websites. They're are many websites out there that you can download music for free. I used 2 of them and they're many different songs of many different genres.

What did you learn?

        I learned many things while doing this assignment. I learned what an equalizer was. I also learned how I can arrange it equalizer. While arranging my equalizer I've learned that it changes the way music sounds. I've also learned that you can download free music on iTunes. I thought every song was  $1.29 but, I was wrong. I found a few free songs and downloaded them. That's what I learned on this assignment.
